Construction: It consists of a cylindrical housing with a rotating rotor inside. The rotor is equipped with vanes or blades that sweep the material from the inlet side to the outlet side.
Inlet and Outlet: The husks are fed into the airlock through an inlet port, usually located at the top or side of the housing. The airlock is designed to accommodate a specific flow rate and prevent backflow.
Rotor Operation: The rotor inside the housing rotates continuously, driven by a motor or external power source. As it rotates, the blades or vanes sweep the husks from the inlet side to the outlet side.
Sealing: The airlock is designed with tight clearances between the rotor and the housing to ensure an airtight seal. This prevents air or gas leakage between different pressure zones in the processing system.
Discharge: The husks are discharged from the airlock through an outlet port, usually located at the bottom or side of the housing. The rotary action of the airlock ensures a continuous flow of material.
Husk rotary airlocks are commonly used in biomass power plants where husks are used as a fuel source. They help to control the feeding of husks into the combustion chamber or boiler while maintaining the necessary pressure differentials.
